Explorathon 2007-- Wednesday, April 4, 2007

The purpose of Explorathon is to provide 8th to 12th grade
students ( about 700) with opportunities to interact in workshop sessions
with professional women scientists, engineers, mathematicians
and health care specialists, and to inform students of
opportunities available for women in science careers. (Boys may also
participate.)
More than 40 workshops lead by women scientists and
mathematicians will be presented to small groups (15-20 ) of students in
grades 8 through 12. Each student may participate in
three
sessions. Workshop leaders present their work shop three times during the
course of the morning, as shown below.

II or Second Lunch Period
12:15 to 1 p.m. Workshop III
We
emphasize hands on activities, handouts, demos, and also some
discussion, as appropriate, of career requirements, demands,
responsibilities, balancing personal and professional life, etc. We
will have an orientation session for workshop presenters at Detroit Country
Day sometime early in 2007.
