Work with talented high school students? Enjoy
participating in fun, spirited competitions? The
National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) is the place for
you! NOSB is a nationwide event with 25
participating regions hosting teams of high school
students in a competition testing students’
knowledge of the ocean and Great Lakes sciences.
The NOSB program also offers professional
development opportunities for coaches, as well as
internships and scholarships for participating
students.

Registration is open and we are actively recruiting
teams for the Tenth Annual Great Lakes Bowl, a
regional competition of NOSB. The Great Lakes Bowl
will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the
University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources
and Environment in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There is no
cost for participating, and lodging is available for
traveling teams. The competition is co-hosted by
the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research
Laboratory (GLERL), the Cooperative Institute for
Limnology and Ecosystems Research (CILER), and
Michigan Sea Grant. Winners of the regional
competition are provided with an all-expense paid
trip to the National Competition, held April 28-30,
2007 in Stony Brook, New York.

Deadline for submission of registration forms is
December 15, 2006. Teams consist of 5 students and
a coach, and the Great Lakes Bowl can accept as many
as 16 teams. Teams are registered on a first-come,
first-served basis. Registration forms and program
