The St. Lawrence River Institute
of Environmental Sciences was established in Cornwall, Ontario, in
1994. Since then, it has become a renowned environmental research
and science education center with a focus on freshwater ecosystems.
Through its research, education and community activities, the River
Institute is providing a unique community service - reaching out to
everyone in its mandate to provide leadership and knowledge on
environmental issues.

Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring

units extend from the boreal forests of northern Minnesota to the
sand dunes of southern Lake Michigan, representing the major
