CALL FOR PAPERS TENTH NATIONAL WATERSHED CONFERENCE MAY 20-23, 2007 LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN http://watershedcoalition.org/index.html You are invited to be part of the National Watershed Coalition's (NWC) Tenth National Watershed Conference. The theme of the conference is "Total Watershed Awareness-Extending the Legacy." Watershed project sponsors and those that provide them assistance are facing critical issues and the NWC is seeking presenters for concurrent sessions that will provide ideas and information for practical application and utilization in local watersheds. We are seeking abstracts for oral presentations that provide information, answers or insight on the topics which follow : * What is the future beyond traditional USDA watershed projects? Can projects be planned and managed to better address water quality, water supply, recreation and other public needs? * Rapid Watershed Assessments - A tool for the future * Easement encroachment, litigation, liability and risk reduction are important issues for local watershed project sponsors. How are these trends affecting sponsoring organizations? Case studies and examples of how these issues are being addressed are desired. * Emergency action planning for USDA Small Watershed Projects * Case studies -recent watershed project success stories, dam failures, dam removals, Katrina lessons * New watershed management tools-Using technology to become more efficient and effective * Changing roles and new partnerships within the USDA Watershed Program * Total Watershed Awareness - Formal and Non Formal Watershed Education efforts All accepted papers are eligible for publication in the conference proceedings. To submit your abstract, prepare a 400 word, or less, description of your presentation. Electronic copies must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
