Mark your calendars and plan to attend Great Lakes Day in Washington and related events, March 6-7, 2007.
Join us in Washington as we discuss the issues facing the world's greatest freshwater resource. Elected and appointed officials from Great Lakes states and stakeholders from across the region will join with members of Congress and staff to look closely at the needs of the Great Lakes region and opportunities for action on a legislative agenda. This annual event is sponsored by the Great Lakes Commission, in conjunction with the Northeast-Midwest Institute.
A preliminary agenda is now available at http://www.glc.org/greatlakesday/agenda.html
March 6 will feature a Great Lakes Day briefing and coordination and planning for visits to congressional offices. March 7 will include a Great Lakes Day breakfast reception, featuring remarks by invited members of Congress. A committee hearing is also tentatively planned. In the afternoon, teams of representatives from the Great Lakes Commission and other stakeholders from across the region will conduct a series of congressional office visits.
Online registration for the events will be available soon at http://www.glc.org/greatlakesday/. All attendees should plan to book their own lodging. A block of rooms will be reserved at the Jurys Washington Hotel, 1500 New Hampshire Ave. NW. Further details and other lodging options are posted on the web site.
