*7^th Biennial Lake Superior Youth Symposium set for May 10-13 near
Marquette, MI*
*//*Registration is now open for the 7^th Biennial Lake Superior Youth
Symposium for grades 8-12 students and educators from Michigan,
Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ontario that will take place May 10-13, 2007
at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, near Marquette, MI. *//*
At the symposium, participants will participate in a variety of fun and
engaging activities including field trips, watershed research, hands-on
investigations, leadership-building activities, explorations of the
history and culture of the Lake Superior region, and much, much more!
Throughout the symposium, students will share their knowledge and
skills, learn how to assess needs in their local community, brainstorm
strategies for addressing issues, and develop a project to implement
when they return home using the Kellogg Foundation’s publication /Young
People Creating Community Change./ By gathering together students from
all over the Lake Superior Basin, the symposium reinforces the concept
that residents from throughout the basin share common problems and must
work together to create solutions.
The 2007 symposium is hosted by the Glenn T. Seaborg Center for Teaching
and Learning Science and Mathematics at Northern Michigan University
(NMU). To request registration materials, contact Ann Joyal at
