The Institute for Food
and Agricultural Standards (IFAS) at Michigan State University recently
released a report titled An Issues Landscape for Nanotechnology Standards:
Report of a Workshop. The report discusses critical issues surrounding five
standards themes affecting the growing nanotechnologies sector: (1) timing and
standards-setting, (2) product vs. process standards, (3) international
harmonization, (4) integration of operational standards, and (5) participation
and transparency.
All those concerned about the development of new nanotechnologies and their potential applications are encouraged to read this report. The report may be downloaded free of charge from the IFAS website by clicking on the following link or by copying it into your browser: http://ifas.msu.edu/NSWorkshopReport.pdf. Respectfully, John V.
