Lake Superior Pathfinders 2007 An Environmental Leadership and Social Justice Program Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin in partnership with UW-Extension http://www.northland.edu/Northland/Soei/Programs/Pathfinders/ Pathfinders Live and learn on Lake Superior, the world's largest freshwater lake! Build your leadership skills on our low and high ropes courses and climbing walls. Immerse yourself in the Lake Superior environment. Explore estuaries, kayak to sea caves, and investigate the lake's critical issues from social, environmental, and economic perspectives. Interact with Chippewa tribal elders and educators as they share their culture. Join your peers to learn with guest speakers, community leaders, and Northland College's Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute and University of Wisconsin-Extension educators, faculty, and field counselors. Develop knowledge to help you take action on environmental issues. Lodge at Northland College's Environmental Living and Learning Center dormitory, located in Ashland, Wis.; some nights are spent camping on secluded Lake Superior beaches. Navigators The Navigator program is for students who have already completed a Pathfinders session, a similar program, or who have exceptional leadership experience. This year, 20 selected students will participate in this advanced, 6-day program, based on service learning.
