Established in 2003,
the mission of the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute (GLWSI) at
Northwestern Michigan College is to inspire lifelong stewardship of
freshwater through education and partnership. Located at the foot of
West Grand Traverse Bay, the GLWSI provides professional development
for teachers, community education about freshwater, a college level
watershed science class and internships for students. In addition,
the GLWSI partners with a rich array of natural resource nonprofits,
governmental units and the community to work on important freshwater
issues.

Great Lakes Habitat

The Habitat Initiative is identifying site-specific
actions that can be implemented under existing funding programs to
protect and restore wetlands and aquatic habitat in the Great Lakes
region.

Founded in 1923, the Toronto Field Naturalists is a
charitable, non-profit organization which encourages the enjoyment
and preservation of natural heritage, and provides opportunities to
share these interests with other members. |

year, National Trails Day, June 2, continues to inspire the public
to flock to their favorite trails to discover, learn about and
celebrate trails while participating in educational exhibits, trail

SEE-North is a regional
environmental center that fosters people's connection to plants,
animals and habitats of northern Michigan. Through workshops and
field trips, K-12 students, teachers and community residents are
inspired to take responsibility for their place in nature.
