The 2007 Chrysler Jeep Superstores Bayview Mackinac Race

GLIN Site of the Month This year marks the 83rd sailing of the Bayview Mackinac Race. Attracting many of the finest sailing yachts from the Great Lakes and across the country, the race begins at noon July 21 offshore of Port Huron, Michigan with the finish 252 statute miles later at beautiful Mackinac Island. Administered by Bayview Yacht Club of Detroit, this year's race has 244 boats and 3000 sailors all competing on a new course that takes them due north in Lake Huron to NOAA weather buoy 43005 at which they will bear west towards the Straits of Mackinac and the Island finish line. Pre-race festivities in Port Huron will attract 500,000 spectators who come on Thursday's Family Night and Friday's Boat Night as well as the Saturday start to view the boats up close and enjoy the carnival atmosphere.
