Northern Great

The Conservancy along with the State of Michigan
and The Forestland Group, LLC has created the largest conservation
corridor in the Midwest by connecting 2.5 million acres. The project
prevents land fragmentation and incompatible development by
establishing buffers around major sites such as Pictured Rocks
National Lakeshore and Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.

The International Upper Great Lakes Study has released its
semiannual Progress Report highlighting the many research projects
and other initiatives already under way. Included in the report were
initial results from work currently underway in the St. Clair River
that has already captured more than 50 kilometers (30 miles) of the
river bed on videotape.
