DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - JOB #07051
Old
Dominion University's Department of Ocean, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences
seeks a candidate who will develop a suite of quantitative PCR (qPCR)
methods for viruses, bacteria, and unicellular eukaryotes in the context of
ballast-water and more broadly, aquatic-environmental studies. The successful
candidate will have broad training in qPCR, preferably with two or more of
the aforementioned groups. Experience with phytoplankton culture
(especially dinoflagellates) and culture of heterotrophic bacteria is a
plus.
Travel to
another laboratory in Seattle will be required for up to 20% of the
project’s duration.
Position is
funded for 12 months (beginning in January 2008), with the intent to extend
funding by collaborating on future research proposals.
