Birding is Theme for 2008 Great Lakes Seaway Trail & Quilt Show Challenge

From the New York State Eastern Bluebird to barn swallows, bluejays, buzzards and bitterns and the symbol of American freedom, the Bald Eagle – birds are the theme for Great Lakes Seaway Trail in 2008. “Feathers and Fowl” is the title of the annual Great Lakes Seaway Trail Quilt Show and Competition set for March 15-16, 2008, at the Seaway Trail Discovery Center in Sackets Harbor, NY. Competition and show info is online at www.seawaytrail.com.

The Seaway Trail is one of America’s Byways and a National Recreation Trail that stretches 518 miles through diverse birding habitat along the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, the Niagara River, and Lake Erie. The quilt show is a special feature of the May-October 2008 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Exhibit and Speakers Series that will feature birding displays and noted speakers at the historic three-story Discovery Center on the waterfront in Sackets Harbor. Eco-travelers enjoy more than 127 sites of natural interest along the freshwater byway in New York and Pennsylvania. # # #
