Traces of prescription drugs and other medicines detected in drinking water are becoming a growing environmental and public safety concern nationwide. One recent study conducted by the Associated Press found small amounts of prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines like ibuprofen and acetaminophen in drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas.
