Great Lakes Observing System - 2008 Annual Meeting April 16-17, 2008 Location: Great Lakes WATER Institute - Milwaukee, Wisconsin To register, go to http://glos.us/annual08/reg.php Please join us on the shores of Lake Michigan for the third annual meeting of the Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS), the Great Lakes node of the national Integrated Ocean Observing System. GLOS is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing wide community access to real-time and historic data on the physical, chemical and biological conditions of the Great Lakes, including interconnecting waterways and the St. Lawrence River. GLOS Data Integration Activities will be highlighted, including a web-based map explorer to display real time lake conditions and a HarborView application prototype, which provides an online viewing frame for conditions in/around Great Lakes harbors. HarborView will be of special interest to recreational boaters, fishermen/women and beachgoers, among others. Discussions will also focus on GLOS System/Modeling activities, including the Huron-Erie Corridor modeling project, and plans for a Great Lakes Modeling & Assessment Center and an Open Water Observing Conference. A reception at The Discovery Center at Pier Wisconsin will be held on the evening of April 16.
