You are invited to join colleagues for a three-day interactive conference on
water quality issues and regional policy development relevant to Lake
Michigan and the Basin, and its watersheds in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana
and Illinois.                             
 

Who Should Attend:

 

This program seeks to gather together not only staff from regional planning
organizations that are located within the Lake Michigan basin and watershed
groups that plan and implement projects within their watersheds, but also
local elected officials and planning or public works staff of municipalities
located within the basin as well as other agency planners, policy makers and
project implementers on a local or regional level. 

Wednesday Keynote Speaker:

John Austin - "Healthy Waters Strong Economy - The Economic Benefits of
Restoring the Great Lakes Ecosystem"

 

John Austin, nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and
Director, Great Lakes Economic Initiative, will share results from the
recent Brookings-Great Lakes Economic Initiative report that describes and
puts a dollar value on the diverse economic benefits that flow from
stewardship of the unique Great Lakes water system.

Tuesday, May 20th: 1:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.       

An in-depth look at current initiatives at Regional Planning Organizations.

                                                                          
Wednesday, May 21st: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Breakfast & lunch included)

Water Quality Issues Guiding Policy Development & Implementation. 
Purdue University and Michigan State University will provide Hands-On
Training for Free Web Planning Tools.

 

Thursday, May 22nd: 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Breakfast included)

The Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and the Implications for Regional
Policy
