GLIN==> March U.S.-Flag Lakes Cargo Report

While the U.S.-Flag Great Lakes fleet’s cargo total in March was essentially even with a year ago, the dredging crisis continued to afflict the industry.  The top iron ore and coal cargos were some 14 percent less than the vessels’ rated capacity.  A comparison to 1997, a period of high water, shows the dredging crisis is slashing vessels’ payloads by 17 percent.  See attached for more details.
