New Great Lakes movie!
See trailer on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LThCGlwqhng
Water is becoming a limited commodity throughout the world, including the
Great Lakes region. In order to secure the future of our freshwater
resources, public participation in decisions surrounding water use and
protection is vital. The goal of this movie is to provide an overview of the
concepts of surface and groundwater watersheds and the concept of water
diversions. The movie relates these issues to the Great Lakes Compact
Agreement and presents ideas on how individuals can make an impact on water
use and the policies surrounding water protections.
This project is a collaboration between the scientist Rebecca Klaper and the
filmmaker Matt Radcliff. Funding was provided by the Wisconsin Coastal
Management Program, UWM Great Lakes WATER Institute and Paignton Pictures.
The film is currently playing at Discovery World in Milwaukee through May on
Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 am CDT. Wider distribution is anticipated.
Contact Rebecca Klaper at rklaper@uwm.edu with any questions.
