Announcement of EPA grant to Wisconsin and new method to protect beaches

In time for the start of Great Lakes beach season, U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water
Benjamin Grumbles will be in Racine on Friday, May 30, to announce why
Wisconsin residents and Great Lakes beachgoers can feel better about
going to the beach this year. As a result of an EPA grant to Wisconsin
and a new method to identify sources of contamination at Great Lakes
beaches, Wisconsin beaches will be cleaner and the public can feel more
confident about the safety of swimming in the Great Lakes. The new
method was successfully piloted at Racine and other Great Lakes beaches
and is now being made available to help protect beaches nationwide.
