GLIN==> Lakes Ore Trade Up 15 Percent in May

Shipments of iron ore on the Lakes totaled 7.3 million net tons in May, an increase of 15 percent compared to a year ago.  Strong demand and a rising Lake Superior produced the surge.  However, the dredging crisis continued to limit shipments.  Many of the largest vessels could have carried 5,000 tons or more each trip if the Lakes were dredged to project dimensions.  See attached for more details.
