Québec City, celebrating its 400th anniversary
this year, is the site of the Great Lakes Commission?s 2008 Annual
Meeting. The meeting will be held Oct. 6-7 at the Hôtel Château
Laurier Québec located in the heart of the city, close to Old Québec
and the Québec Parliament.
IMPORTANT DEADLINE: Because of Québec City?s
400th anniversary, hotel space is very limited! Make your
reservations soon. Also, this would be a good time for Americans to
renew your passport!
Under the theme The Technology of Stewardship,
presentations will address the role of innovative technology in
sustaining and rebuilding our region?s economy and protecting our
environment. Several exciting sessions are under development:
climate change and Great Lakes/St. Lawrence observation systems,
vessel automatic identification systems, ?blue technologies? and
innovations in freshwater efficiency, recent investments in wind
energy, and the status of the Basin Compact/Agreement. Also featured
will be a keynote on the 400-year-old Québec-Great Lakes connection
and a dinner cruise on the St. Lawrence River.

Participants must mention event number #230237 when they make
reservations. A special per night rate of $154 plus tax is available
to meeting attendees for the nights of Oct. 5 and 6. Additional
nights are available at a rate of $179 plus tax.

THAN FRIDAY, SEPT. 5. After that date reservations will be
accepted at current rates according to availability.
