Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes
fell slightly in October compared to a year ago. The trade totaled 5.7
million net tons. Canadian Seaway ports were the first to feel the
impacts of the dramatic slowdown in steel production, falling some 32
percent. While U.S.
ports in total actually registered an increase compared to a year ago, it is
reported that their loadings started to react in the last week of
