To: Environmental and Conservation Leaders in Ohio From: Ellen Mee, Ohio Environmental Council Mike Eckhardt, Ohio League of Conservation Voters Date: January 22, 2009 Re: Environmental- *CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF BRIEFING PAPERS TO 2009 OHIO LEGISLATIVE BRIEFING BOOK* This year, the OEC and Ohio LCV again plan to fund and produce the Environmental- top state agency officials as well as for participants in the Environmental Lobby Day to be held on March 31, 2009. All environmental and conservation organizations in Ohio are invited to submit an issue briefing paper for the book. Each environmental- will have 2 pages, with: · An issue backgrounder (up to 400 words); · A set of solutions/policy recommendations (up to 150 words) for each issue; · 1-2 photos total (.jpg file ONLY, at least 100kb) depicting the issue problem or solution; · Photo captions (up to 75 words each); · One or more “for more information” contacts for each issue (including the contact group’s name, e-mail, and website). You may submit both legislative and administrative issues as long as they are focused on state policies. Attached is a sample briefing paper illustrating the required format. If your group submitted a briefing paper in past years, you may wish to update it and/or submit a new issue for inclusion in the 2009 book. Groups are invited to submit more than one briefing paper, but in all cases, the OEC and the Ohio LCV reserve the right to edit submissions. We will, of course, share any suggested edits with the group(s) that drafted the original briefing paper. If more than one group proposes to draft a briefing paper on the same issue, the OEC and the Ohio LCV will encourage those groups to submit a joint briefing paper. * * *GROUP LISTING ONLY* In addition to individual briefing papers, the briefing book will include contact information for as many environmental- groups carrying on work in Ohio as we can identify, whether or not they submit a briefing paper. Please send us current contact information for your group. *DEADLINE * Please let us know by *January 30* if you will be submitting a paper and what issue(s) your group is proposing so that we help coordinate the submissions and match your group with other group(s) that would like to work together on an issue. Final deadline for submitting your draft briefing paper (in word document), photo/caption, and contact information is *February 10*.
