Registration for is now open for the 2009 Joint Meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists, Wisconsin Wetlands Association, and the Wetland Biogeochemistry Symposium. 


Save money.  Register by April 13, 2009, the early/speaker registration deadline.  The regular registration deadline is May 22, 2009.

Conference Highlights:

Ø       Opening social in the Monona Terrace Rooftop Garden with entertainment provided by the famous Clyde Stubblefield Band.

Ø       Plenary talks by six distinguished wetland professionals: Dr. George Archibald, Dr. Mary Firestone, Dr. Carol Johnston, Dr. Raymond Semlitsch, Dr. James Tiedje and Dr. Jos Verhoeven (some will be open to the public).

Ø       Banquet dinner with a presentation by Great Lakes Water Wars author Peter Annin (a ticketed event, open to the public).

Ø       Field trips to fourteen wonderful Wisconsin wetland sites.  Whether by canoe, bicycle, bus, pontoon, ferry boat, or on foot, you’ll have a chance to visit destinations of local, regional, statewide, and even global conservation significance.

Ø       Five workshops, including a WWA-led workshop, Wetland Gems to Poetic Gems:  Celebrating Wisconsin Wetlands with Poetry (ticketed event; open to the public).

Ø       A silent auction featuring a wide variety of desirable books, art pieces, travel and entertainment certificates, outdoor gear and more.

Ø       Student participation opportunities including volunteering in exchange for complimentary registration, travel awards and presentation award contest.

Ø       Hundreds of presentations and posters about current and cutting edge wetland projects, including at least eleven organized symposia on special wetland topics.
