Michigan Sea Grant, at the University of Michigan, seeks a motivated,
organized, and outgoing individual with an understanding of Great Lakes and
coastal issues to serve as an Administration/Project Coordinator. The
incumbent will work directly with the Assistant Director on all aspects of
Michigan Sea Grant's research program currently focused on integrated
assessment (IA) (http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/research/index.html).
Duties include:
* Management of the biennial request for proposal (RFP) process
including developing RFP language, managing mail/review panel peer review
process, coordinating in-person review panel meeting, and keeping Michigan
Sea Grant Management Team updated on progress;
* Coordinating Sea Grant personnel and researchers engaged in
Integrated Assessment projects, including facilitating kick-off/update
meeting(s) for Integrated Assessment (IA) projects and maintaining
communication with IA PIs throughout project life to ensure engagement with
Sea Grant personnel and satisfaction of agency sponsor.
* Oversight of project reporting process (mostly automated) in
conjunction with the program's Fiscal Officer, and drafting research portion
of annual reports, proposals and other program documents including strategic
and implementation plans.
* Recruit Applicants for Graduate Fellowships
* Develop, enhance and maintain relationships with state and federal
management agencies, conservation NGOs, local governments, and
university-based principal investigators participating or potentially
participating in the RFP process.
* Serve as member of proposal writing team in designing
studies/projects for external funding in a multiple partner,
multi-disciplinary environment
* Prepare and maintain project plans and records including budget
tracking/management,
* Conduct studies/project,
* Prepare reports and news briefs
* Communicate with project/program partners
* Ensure regulatory and university policy compliance for special
projects or ongoing programs
* Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: MSc or MA in relevant field with experience working in a
multi-disciplinary environment, or equivalent combination of education and
experience required. Grant writing experience preferred. Excellent written
and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to
manage multiple deadlines and prioritize among competing goals; facility
with MS applications, e.g., Word, Excel, required; experience in developing
or applying natural or social science to environmental problems is
desirable.
