Nitric Acid Recycling

There's an article in the July '98 SERDP newsletter (Strategic
Environmental Research and Development Program) which describes a
pilot scale study conducted by the Naval Facilities Engineering
Service Center to test diffusion dialysis, a membrane separation
process, as a technology for recovering acids used in metal finishing.
The technology successfully recovered 80 - 90% of the acids (including nitric acid).
The Environmental Security Technology Certification Program is
conducting a full scale demonstration effort at Tobyhanna Army Depot.
The POC for the SERDP project is Nicholas Stencel, NFESC,
805-982-1793.
