Absorbent recycling

Greetings:

A colleague of mine is currently working with a client company that
recycles floor absorbent material for resale.  The company has a
patent-protected system for extracting solvents from the used absorbent
and also is fairly effective at removing ferrous metals.  They would
like some guidance on high-production methods of removing non-ferrous
metals from the material.

Any ideas?
