Announcement: 2nd AIChE Topical Workshop on Pollution Prevention --Houston, Texas March 18-19, 1999

P2TECH'ers --

The following workshop announcement may be of interest. You are encouraged
to forward this to co-workers and clients who might want to take advantage
of the workshop. While the workshop covers pollution prevention techniques
and concepts that are applicable to other industries as well, the emphasis
will be on applying these techniques to the process industries(chemicals,
petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food).

American Institute of Chemical Engineers
2nd Topical Workshop on Pollution Prevention
Houston Southwest Hilton, Houston, Texas March 18-19, 1999

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers, in collaboration with Center
for Waste Reduction Technologies, ChemAlliance and the Mary Kay O'Connor
Process Safety Center at Texas A & M, are proud to host the Second AIChE
Topical Pollution Prevention Workshop. This year's workshop is being held
in the Houston Southwest Hilton, immediately following the 1999 AIChE Spring
National Meeting and Petrochem Expo. This year's Spring National meeting
includes topical sessions on Distillation: Horizons for the New Millennium;
Heat Transfer Equipment in the Process Industries; the 33rd Loss Prevention
Topical Conference; Topical Conference on Managing Environmental Risks; and
Chemical Engineering in Environmental Management Systems. So come to
Houston for the National Meeting, stay for the Pollution Prevention
Workshop!

The 2-day workshop is intended for plant personnel, product and process
design engineers, compliance and environmental managers, and technical
assistance providers working with the process industries. It's objectives
are:

*	Provide tools for improving process efficiency
*	Identify hidden opportunities for reducing wastes
*	Learn what's happening on the compliance horizon
*	Make better use of on-line information resources
*	Learn how to integrate pollution prevention into plant and product
design

The workshop program features a number of speakers from the process
industries, presenting both state of the art tutorials and hands-on sessions
to permit you to put the new concepts into practice. Break-out session
topics include process analysis methods in use at DuPont and other leading
chemical manufacturers, applying pollution prevention during process and
product design, utilizing the internet as a P2 research tool, applying
lifecycle analysis and total cost accounting, and overcoming obstacles to
pollution prevention implementation.

There will also be a break-out track featuring "Texas Style" P2 success
stories, including presentations from Texas industries, TNRCC staff and
officials, and a plant tour of a Houston area chemical facility that has
successfully implemented a variety of pollution prevention improvements.
