Call for Papers: Joint Meeting of AIChE and the Chemical Indust ryand Engineering Society of China

Friends ---

Given the important role that pollution prevention has played as a driver
for new and emerging technologies, I thought that some of you might be
interested in submitting a paper to the following Conference session. In
addition to this session on the management of technology in Energy-intensive
industries, there are other sessions on P2-related topics.

If you have questions regarding this conference, please contact Dr. Weiner
directly at the address below.

Call for Papers

Session Title: Managing Technology: The Future of Energy-Intensive

Technology and resource utilization efficiency play important roles in the
competitive positioning of the world's energy-intensive process industries,
such as chemicals, petroleum refining, forest products, glass, steel, etc.
The driving forces that exert pressure on these industries include
technological change, economic and competitive conditions, environmental
requirements, globalization of markets, and responsiveness to customer

This session is seeking papers and presentations that deal with the role
that technology is playing in the future of the process industries.
Subjects of interest include projects/partnerships dealing with resource
efficiency, analyses of the future of these industries with an emphasis on
technology, and technology roadmapping initiatives, for example.
Participation by industrial, academic, and government organizations is
welcome. A one-page abstract is requested by October 1, 1999.
