Citizen monitoring

This isn't P2 but if you have connections to interested individuals,
citizen groups or environmental educators who would want to do projects
with students you might find this an important event to alert them to if
they haven't seen it.

http://www.yearofcleanwater.org/ has information about Citizen's
Monitoring Day, October 18.

You register to do monitoring, send away for an inexpensive kit, do the
monitoring on your favorite river, and send in your data. Getting
schools to get out and do this will hopefully prompt more kids to grow
up to be citizen monitors, which could be helpful in generating the
societal will to address pollution problems.
