Invitation for Papers:"Sustainability of Manufacturing Processe s / Environmental Risk AssessmentManagement" -- AIChE National Meeting, March 30 - April 3 2003 New Orleans

Please excuse the crossposting --
The submission deadline for "proposals to present" has been extended until
October 11 for the following two sessions, which are being offered as part
of a broader Topical Conference entitled "Sustainability of Manufacturing
Processes / Environmental Risk Assessment Management", to be held
concurrently with the AIChE Spring National Meeting and Process Industries
Exposition, March 30 - April 3 2003, in the Ernest N. Morial Convention
Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
[T4005] - Sustainability, Innovation and Risk: Managing Technical Risks
Implementing effective sustainability programs often requires
significant rethinking of a company's products, processes and business mode.
Embedded in this rethinking is the inherent risk of adopting new and
often-times, unproven technology. This session will address approaches for
managing the risks associated with new technology development and adoption.
[T4006] - Sustainability, Innovation and Risk: Managing in the Face of
Regulatory and Market Uncertainty
While the concept of sustainable development has been "in the
mainstream" for more than a decade, scenarios of more sustainable business
models depend in large part on speculative visions of future regulatory, and
more importantly, market scenarios. How are companies minimizing the effects
of uncertainties embedded in these scenarios? How do you avoid the sort of
"future shock" that results from betting the business on a vision of the
future that doesn't come true?
