a few mercury use questions

Does anyone know if the semiconductor industry is heading away from the
advanced alloy mercury-cadmium-telluride (hg-cd-te), and going to zinc-cd-te?

Does anyone know if hg switches commonly used in automobiles (e.g.,
acceleration sensor for anti-lock brakes, hood lights, etc.), are also common
in industrial/cargo trucks? are other mercury switches used - e.g.,
leveling/suspension, tip-over switch to cut off the fuel supply if the rig
turns over.

thanks much.
