RE: Educational publications

Tammy,

Contact Dennis Nelson with International Project WET, 406-994-1909 or
dennisn@montana.edu for pricing and availability of their popular series of
KID's (Kids in Discovery) activity books (for age 9-12). There are at least
a dozen booklets in the series, most dealing with water issues. They are
nicely done and sponsored by various agencies and industry. Peaks to
Prairies tried to partner with them to produce a multi-media Pollution
Prevention KID's booklet a year ago but at that time we were unsuccessful in
identifying funding. Maybe now is the time.

I'm not sure what kind of quantities you need but Project WET could
accommodate you.

Some other possibilities are activity books that are available on the web
but could most likely be obtained in hard copy by contacting the publisher:

Happy Earth Day Coloring and Activities Book:

Outwit the Garbage Gremlin Word Game and The Garbage Gremlin Comic Book

Trash and Climate Change

Learn About Lighting with Flossie: EPA Green Lights Program, 202.775.6650

Power Bill's Home Energy Activities (hard copy only), available from Montana
State University Extension Service, call 406-994-3451 or email
cmee@montana.edu.

Another option is to check the Resource Guide of Solid Waste Educational
Materials at http://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/general/bibligr/educatn.htm, which
has a listing of publications that can be purchased, but may be a way to
locate places with free items as well.

I have received many great resources for publications in education from
everyone on P2Tech and have checked everyone of the leads out.
Unfortunately, none of the resources provided addressed printable booklets
for individual distribution to students. Most of the sources were either
interactive web-sites or teachers curriculas instead of student activity
booklets. Anyone know of any publishers for student activity booklets for
distribution during community outreach events? Topics of interest are
multi-media pollution prevention, air quality, protecting the environment,
etc.
