on anaerobic pretreatment

Dear colisters,

I'm working with a small abbatoir (ca. 150 heads/day), and what I'm doing is
stablishing an effluent treatment system. I've been researching and I've
found that the project Stardust '80, from Japan, has used an alkaline (pH
9), 60°C treatment for three hours, in order to reduce the retention time,
which dropped from 30 days (the standard mesophyllic retention time) in the
anaerobic digestor to 8 days, with a higher methane content. Does anyone
have a suggestion on this system? Has anyone ever heard from this Stardust
project?

MAny thanx in advance

Alejandro Herrnsdorf
