odors from sewer force main air release valves

Hello Everyone,

Do you know how your agency's Utilities' Department eliminates/ controls the odors that result from air release valves on force mains in your community's sewage collection systems.

I am currently assisting our Utilities Department with odor control/prevention at these air releases. We are trying to find a cost-effective way to eliminate these odors that have created various citizen complaints. Currently, an atomizer product is used to control the odor. Only about 60% of the odor is controled and the atomized product seems to only mask the odor of sulfides and sewage instead of neutralizing it. If you could check with your agencies or know of an inexpensive way to reduce these odors besides literally throwing money away in masking odor, your help is greatly appreciated.
