RE: Service vs. Manufacturing

Tomas,

I think there is an important role for P2 programs in this area and some
great work already going on in this area. I'll give one just to start
things off. A lot of great P2 work has gone on in with the hospitality
industry focused on facility maintenance, food service, house keeping,
landscaping, office practices, and conferences.

A great web resources on this service-based sector is WestP2Net's
Hospitality P2Rx Topic Hub:
http://www.westp2net.org/hub/toc.cfm?hub=14&subsec=7&nav=7

An example of a successful assistance/recognition program for hotels is
Vermont's Green Hotels in the Green Mountain State:

I hope this helps start the discussion.

Subject: Service vs. Manufacturing

How about an esoteric question?

I always here that our economy is moving away from manufacturing and
becoming more of a service based economy. If this is the trend, how
will P2 programs operate in regards to the service industry?

What are some examples of successes?

Will P2 always concentrate on manufacturing?
