Eliminating isopropyl alcohol (IPA) drying

Greetings to my colleagues!

We are looking for information on the human resources (labor hrs and type of
staff) required to complete a project that will:

--test and install equipment to monitor and control IPA concentrations used
for drying (rather than fill-and-dump on a calendar schedule)
--replace IPA drying with hot deionized water and turbulent air

Facilities are in medical device manufacturing. Any case studies we can use
to help staff draft their proposals to general managers would be much
appreciated.

This is actually an interesting story of how integration of environmental
effects with product and process design finally starts to change a company
after 5+ yrs of efforts, with part of the original impetus being a
state-funded grant program to support DfE. Also a great example of how EHS
costs can be a terrible indicator of project value.

In this case, EHS drivers total about $25,000/facility, but materials use
and productivity drivers 10x-20x that amount, annually.
