Does anyone have any type of rough statistical information on what percentage
of companies in the USA do in fact have EMS in place?
Was also wondering if there are numbers (% or otherwise) on how many
companies in the US are ISO 14000(1) certified?

Heather,

Take a look at EPA's Design for the Environment  Integrated
Environmental Management Systems  web page at :

http://www.epa.gov/dfe/projects/iems/index.htm

The EMS is based on ISO 14001 principles and integrates P2 principles
hence IEMS.  There is a lot of information there including a manual and
small  business templates that allow SMEs to "build their own"  IEMS.

Hope this helps,

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has ezperience with  Environmental Policy
development for a government department,  and if you have a sense as to
whether an EMS or P2 plan is a  better way to go?

Thanks,

Heather Paquet
