I recently had a question from one of our haz waste inspectors regarding P2 opportunities at an acrylic plastic sheet manufacturer . The sheets are used in optics applications. This manufacturer flow coats the sheet with a resin several times before treating it with UV light. The flow coat solution is approximately 70% isopropyl alcohol, a small portion of resin, and the remainder of it is PM glycol ether. They have been re-circulating it and re-using it until it is too contaminated to use. Then it is disposed of as a hazardous waste. They are interested in options to extend the re-use of this flow coat.
The company has looked into distillation but doesn't think it will work with the blended solvents. I believe filtration is an option. Has anyone else been to a company similar to this and seen other opportunities or specific technologies applied? Thanks
