2005 National Forum on Contaminants in Fish

Join your colleagues in Baltimore, MD September 18-21, 2005 to learn about the latest issues regarding chemical contaminants in fish at the 2005 National Forum on Contaminants in Fish.

Date: Sunday, September 18 through Wednesday, September 21, 2005

Location: Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards, 110 South Eutaw Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201

Description: The 2005 Forum is jointly cosponsored by USEPA and Maryland Department of the Environment. The Forum is an annual event designed to bring together public health and environmental officials from states, tribes, and other interested parties to present and discuss issues related to assessing and managing potential health risks associated with dietary exposure to bioaccumulative chemical contaminants.

General topics for the 2005 Forum include:

Updates from EPA and FDA on their activities related to risks and benefits of fish consumption;

Special session on Mercury;

Health risks and benefits of consuming fish;

Risk communication;

Federal and state monitoring programs; and

Updates on selected chemicals of concern including PBDEs, Mercury, PCBs, and Dioxin.

In addition, the Forum will again provide special Sunday Discussion Sessions, Regional Breakout Sessions, and a Monday Evening Poster Session with Reception. Who Should Attend: Health and environmental officials from state, tribal, and federal agencies and others interested in presenting and discussing issues related to assessing and managing potential health risks associated with dietary exposure to bioaccumulative chemical contaminants in fish.

Lodging: A block of guest rooms has been reserved at the Marriott Inner Harbor hotel at the discounted rate of $133 plus applicable taxes. The meeting rate is for a single or double standard room. The room block begins on September 17 through September 22, 2005. Please refer to the EPA Fish Forum when making your reservation. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

To obtain the group rate, reservations must be made by Tuesday, August 23, 2005.
