Call for Papers: Chemical Engineering Applications of Semantic Web Technologies

Title: Call for Papers: Chemical Engineering Applications of Semantic Web Technologies

Though this session does not focus specifically on P2/environmental applications, I have it on good authority that the session chairman is favorably inclined to include papers which emphasize environmental applications of Semantic Web technologies.

Call for Papers

Chemical Engineering Applications of Semantic Web Technologies

American Institute of Chemical Engineers 2007 Annual Meeting

November 4 -9, 2007
Salt Palace Convention Center
Salt Lake City, Utah

Sponsored by Computing and Systems Technology Division (CAST)

Area 10(e): Information Technology

The “Semantic Web” is a term coined by Tim Berners-Lee to describe web content (documents, images, applications) which contains explicit descriptions of its underlying semantics, or meaning. A variety of new web tools, collectively dubbed “Web 2.0,” are bringing the semantic web closer to fruition. This session will explore innovative applications of semantic web and Web 2.0 technologies to chemical engineering and related fields. In particular, we are looking for papers describing the use of Wikis, blogs, semantic mark-up, and formal ontologies to applications of interest to chemical engineers.

Proposals to present at this session may be submitted electronically beginning February 8, 2007 by visiting http://www.aiche.org/Conferences/CallForPapers.aspx.  Alternatively, abstracts may be submitted directly to either of the session co-chairs:
