Re: today's question

Here's some Michigan laws regarding labeling of products that the Department of Agriculture oversees. You can find the corresponding administrative rules at http://www.michigan.gov/cis/0,1607,7-154-10576_35738_5698---,00.html

· WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT (Act 283 of 1964 http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(helhso2bfq4p0ujnynlwgvu4))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=mcl-Act-283-of-1964) isn't specific to chemicals, but section 290.624 Package labels; contents; allowable variations states:

"shall bear on the outside of the package such definite, plain, legible and conspicuous declarations of (1) the identity of the commodity in the package unless the same can easily be identified through the wrapper or container, ..."

· Part 83 of Act 451 of 1994 as amended ( http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(helhso2bfq4p0ujnynlwgvu4))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=mcl-451-1994-II-2-83) pertains to pesticides. See 324.8330 Containers; labels; colored or discolored pesticides; handling, storage, display, or transportation of pesticides; adding or taking substance from pesticide; filing and inspection of shipping data.

· Part 85 of Act 451 of 1994 as amended http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(helhso2bfq4p0ujnynlwgvu4))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=mcl-451-1994-II-2-85 pertains to fertilizers. See 324.8502 Label

There's other regulations pertaining to labeling of foods and animal feeds etc, but I didn't think that was what you were after.

hi everyone, from sunny California.

I'm looking for information about any state requirements to disclose product contents (chemical contents--like, just what's in that bottle of whatever you buy at the store?). Anyone have such requirements? Any proposed legislation out there?

Thanks for your help as always.
