  PROGRAM SPECIALIST III - COMMUNICATIONS

The Joint Office for Science Support (JOSS) in Washington, D.C., seeks an individual to serve as the U.S. Climate Change Science Program Office (CCSPO) focal point for disseminating the results of CCSP activities credibly and effectively, and making CCSP science findings and products easily available to a diverse set of audiences. This involves planning, developing, and executing outreach campaigns, and overseeing operations to leverage program and agency assets.

The individual will staff the Communications Interagency Working Group (CIWG), providing advice and serving as liaison to senior Federal program managers and Public Affairs officer counterparts to promote program deliverables via digital and print mediums and coordinated events such as workshops, constituent briefings, and press launches. Outreach and communications efforts span an array of audiences.

Requires an advanced degree in communications, with direct work experience in the environmental sciences and/or public policy. Requires at least 7 years of communications or outreach experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A background in the physical or social sciences is essential. Must exhibit expert written and verbal communications skills to create and edit targeted information materials to inform and educate Federal program management, staff, the community, stakeholders, and the general public.
