Instructional Support Assistant
Buffalo State will receive applications for an Instructional Support Assistant, (temporary, 1-year appointment) Great Lakes Center.
Responsibilities: Assist field station manager and boat captain in operation, maintenance, and repair of research vessels and environmental research facility on Lake Erie; assist researchers, assist in educational outreach programs.
Required Qualifications: B.S. or B.A.. in earth sciences or aquatic biology; captain's license (50-ton minimum), or 365 days afloat and willingness to acquire a license within 3 months; experience in operating and maintaining large boats, experience with automated water quality monitoring and sampling equipment and aquaculture systems; working knowledge of typical laboratory equipment and systems; excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Postgraduate education in earth sciences or biology, computer literacy including Arc View GIS, certification as a scuba diver, desire to participate in K-12 educational and community outreach programs.
