Please comment regarding Interim Rule

Hello All,
this is just a friendly reminder to let your opinion be heard on the
"Interim Rule" regarding the identity check and fingerprinting required
at your next License/MMD renewal and more importantly the need to travel
to a Regional Exam Center (Toledo) to meet this requirement.  Remember
to keep your correspondence professional and to the point.  Offer
suggestions like inviting USCG to Industry Days to fingerprint us or
offer mariners the chance to stop by the REC if they happen to be in the
area while on vacation (driving down I-75 en route to wherever)
regardless of document expiration date.
The website is below, after it opens click on Comments/Submissions.  You
don't have to register, just click on continue from page two.  On page
three the docket ID is USCG-2004-17455.  Type is regulatory.  Existence
is Does Exist.  The document title is   "Validation of Merchant
Mariners' Vital information and Issuance of Coast Guard Merchant
Mariner's Licenses and Certificates of Registry".
If you have problems let me know and I will try to post your comments
for you.
