Greetings Science Vessel Operators –
Please let John Gannon know if you have any ideas or suggestions regarding Great
Lakes research vessels that may be in the vicinity of the eastern end of Lake
Erie or western end of Lake Ontario on Friday, June 12th; that might
be able to accommodate a couple hour tour and research demonstration for the
12-15 person African delegation. - Thanks!

Inquiry on Research Vessel Availability for African
Delegation Tour. The Great Lakes Fishery
Commission and International Joint Commission jointly are involved in a project
of science, resource management and policy exchange with the transboundary commissions
addressing similar issues and problems on the East African Great Lakes. The project is
“twinning” the relatively new international commissions on lakes Victoria and Tanganyika. The first
workshop was held last fall on the shores of Lake Victoria at Entebbe, Uganda.
For the second workshop, an African delegation is coming to Canada this June.
Specifically, the second workshop will be held, June 14-15, 2009 in conjunction
with the Boundary Waters Treaty Celebration on June 13th in Niagara Falls, ON.
Will a Great Lakes research vessel be in the vicinity of the eastern end of Lake Erie or western end of
Lake Ontario on Friday, June 12th and able to accommodate a
couple hour tour and demonstration for the 12-15 person African
delegation? The delegation will only have Canadian visas and will not be
able to travel to the U.S.
Please contact John Gannon if you think you might be able to accommodate this
request.
Thank you.
