SG-W:/ SEMCOG Seeks Comments on 2025 Transportation Plan

The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments is seeking comments on its
2025 Regional Transportation Plan. Copies of the plan and other materials
are available from:

SEMCOG
Transportation Department
660 Plaza Drive, Suite 1900
Detroit, MI 48226
(313) 961-4266

The RTP includes recommendations for studies on the I-94 cooridor in
Detroit, widening 417 miles of roadway, building a rail-freight transfer
station in Wayne County, dedicating 1% to non-motorized opportunities, and
adding compressed natural gas buses to the region's transit fleet.

The Plan as amended will come before SEMCOG's general assembly on June 22,
2000. The SEMCOG Executive Committee will meet before that on May 19, 2000
to review and approve various recommendations. Although the public input
process will hopefully be conducted with the thouroughness the SEMCOG is
famous for, interested parties should get their comments in as soon as
possible.

To meet other environmental transportation activists, consider joining the
Michigan Transportation and Land Use Coalition. Information is available on
the web at www.mlui.org/projects/transport/coalition/mtlucintro.html.
