Re: SG-W:/ Newmarket

The are a few areas in the City of Detroit in which a Newmarket-type
development would be quite appropriate (and very welcome). Send 'em there!
(I would even work with the developer to help line up the properties).
Unfortunately, if approved, it sounds as if Newmarket will be the
deathknell for any reasonable land use in Pittsfield Township. If the
residents and Township officials allow the Newmarket development to go in,
they should simultaneously raise the property taxes to pay for all of the
roads, schools and infrastructure which will be needed.
Canton Township has continually raised taxes after becoming exceedingly
pro-development. I can't imagine any community wanting to emulate the bad
planning in Canton. School overcrowding, traffic jams, and taxes are
up--open space, water quality, and just about all quality of life issues are
down.
I guess I just don't understand why anyone would deliberately choose to
repeat mistakes.
