SG-W:/State Farmland Preservation Program Applications Available

Applications for the State of Michigan farmland preservation program are now
available, with a deadline for submission of November 30. The program offers
cash payments for the value of development potential on qualified farmland in
exchange for permanently restricting the property from non-agricultural
development. Brochures for the program and applications are available from
the Washtenaw-Potawatomi Land Trust by responding to this message or by
calling Barry Lonik at 426-7089.

WPLT is once again offering its free, no obligation assistance in reviewing
any application that comes from Washtenaw County to ensure that all valid
points are being scored for this very competitive program. Three properties
totalling some 450 acres have been preserved as a result of this assistance.
