SG-W:/ LEARN ABOUT SUSTAINABLE BUILDING WITH SUNSTRUCTURES ARCHITECT WAYNE APPLEYARD

CROSSROADS SIERRA CLUB GROUP TO LEARN ABOUT SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS

The Crossroads Group of the Sierra Club will be holding their general
membership meeting on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 pm in the Brighton
District Library. The meeting is open to the public and the topic is
"Green Building -- The Environmental Design of the Leslie Science Center."

Wayne Appleyard from Sunstructures Architects in Ann Arbor will be
describing the design of the new Leslie Science Center. The Science Center
utilizes it's environment to provide water, light, heat, clean air and
electricity. Wayne will describe many of the renewable design features,
how they were cost-effectively integrated into the building, and how they
compare to "traditional" systems.

The Science Center uses passive and active solar features to provide heat
and electricity for the building; it collects water from the roof for use
in the building; and, it converts organic waste to compost.

Following his presentation, Wayne will be available to answer questions on
how you too can integrate these cost-effective technologies into your home
or business.
